Frequently asked questions
Is Sleek PDF really free? What's the catch?
There isn't one. Your device does the processing, so there's no server bill that grows every time someone uses a tool. Static hosting costs a few dollars a month and ads cover it. With nothing to gate, there's no reason for accounts, daily caps, watermarks, or a premium tier. There's a Ko-fi link if a tool saved you an afternoon, but the site behaves identically whether you use it or not.
How can it edit PDFs without uploading them?
Modern browsers can run real software. The first file you drop pulls a PDF engine into the page, and from there the reading, editing, and rebuilding all happen in memory on your machine. You don't have to take our word for it. Open your browser's developer tools while a tool runs and look for a request carrying your file. You won't find one.
Is it safe for confidential or legal documents?
Safer than an upload-based site, because nothing is uploaded to intercept or retain. Contracts, medical records, IDs and privileged material all stay where they started. The processing is the same kind your browser already does every time it displays a PDF.
How large a PDF can it handle?
There's no artificial limit. The real ceiling is your device's memory, and most phones and laptops cope with files in the hundreds of megabytes. Past roughly 150 MB you'll get a soft warning about memory, but nothing stops you from continuing.
